What a Great Hat! In Studio Perspectives

Good morning hat enthusiasts!  Today and every Wednesday, I will blog about what I am working on in the studio. Each week brings new challenges and unique creative opportunities. I am thankful for the encounters I have with each of you.

This past week I had the privilege of meeting with Rich, who phoned me for an appointment. Most of you know that I don’t “do” mens hats, but his story intrigued me. Rich is a Balboa dancer and wanted to accessorize his hat to match his tuxedo and cummerbund.  “Women have so many ways to express their style,” says Rich. “Men don’t. I want my hat to stand out on the dance floor in a special way.”

Posted below are the before and after pictures of the black fedora, along with the fabric that matches his tux. Rich will now make a serious fashion statement on the dance floor!

  1. I love what you did with the hat, Paula. Rich is going to be stylin’ on the dance floor and will definitely be a standout in his spiffed-up hat! I also love that you were able to do something for a guy’s hat, and that he sought your help in the first place. I hope more work from males comes your way. You are far too talented for your efforts to be confined to one gender’s benefit.

  2. Then I sure do hope more embellishment projects come your way. I’m sure some of Rich’s fellow (literally fellow) dancers will be envious of his standout hat! What was his reaction when he picked it up?
